Take responsibility for your own health and fitness
Take responsibility for your own health and fitness
The Covid pandemic has taught us all many lessons and a resounding one is to take responsibility for our own health and fitness – that way we can not only look after ourselves and others better, but also potentially help relieve the stress on our precious NHS.
We have all seen and heard news about the growing stress faced by the NHS. Waiting lists are long and the pressures on the system are well publicised. We all need to play our part to help this.
As a personal trainer I feel one of the ways we can all help is to keep as fit and healthy as possible. It not only helps physical but mental well-being and allows us to function better and contribute more to the world around us.
We could all just sit back and feel sorry for ourselves, about the periods of self-isolation and being away from family and friends that we have all had to endure during these last months. However, we can also all choose to do something about our health and fitness and take positive steps to look after ourselves and in doing so those around us.
We can all get out and about more. We can do this by taking a daily walk, by going swimming, running, cycling or whatever activity gets us moving. Just walking up and down the stairs or cleaning the house also counts as keeping active.
During Covid we have all been shown how important it is to look after ourselves and others by wearing a mask, washing and sanitising and keeping a safe distance. We need to apply this same importance to our health, fitness and well-being. No-one else is going to do this for us.
By keeping fit and healthy we will lessen the need for NHS appointments and ensure it is free to care for those that really need it. We can help prevent many illnesses by taking care of ourselves and our families.
