Sport lifts a nation and exercise can lift you!

Sport lifts a nation and exercise can lift you!

We have all seen how sporting events such as Euro 2020 and the Olympics can lift a nation and the world, especially in the midst of a global pandemic, and exercise can have the same impact on you individually and those around you.

Exercise and fresh air improve not only fitness but well-being, and if you feel better it will have a positive impact on those around you. So while it is great to watch and rejoice in the success of others, albeit it on the track, water or football field, it is important to focus on our own fitness and wellbeing.

Take time out every day

When life is busy and stressful the need to take time out can get forgotten, but even a few minutes a day to find some space, peace and quiet can prove hugely beneficial. This may be to do some yoga, go for a walk, or just think about your day and goals.

Change things up

Exercising can become monotonous and boring after a time, especially when done alone, and can tire your muscles out, so it’s important to mix your exercise routine regularly. Try different workouts and perhaps mix things up with the swimming, running or cycling.
Slow things down sometimes too

If you are doing high intensity work-outs all the time you could perhaps try mixing it up with some slow breathing work, this will help reduce stress and calm you down. This will help you think more clearly and bring balance to your exercise.

Always stretch!

Stretching is so important and without stretching your muscles shorten and become tight, which is when injury can occur. Stretching is crucial for improving flexibility and movement range. You are sure to see athletes stretching and warming up before events and this is why.

Eat well

Diet plays an important role in fitness and well-being and you should always take time to complement your fitness routines with good nutrition. Eating well and drinking plenty of water is a must if you want to maximise your fitness levels.

A personal trainer can help you

Of course, it is easy to talk about fitness while watching the Olympics and Euros, it is a completely different thing to put into action our individual exercise goals. This is where a personal trainer can help. A personal trainer can have a huge impact on your life and well-being, supporting you through your fitness journery.
