Summer is a great time to work on your fitness levels as temperatures rise and the days lengthen.

 

However, as we all know, there can also be plenty of distractions and excuses not to exercise – such as social events and holidays.

 

We need to remember though that the warmer weather and longer days won’t last and we must grasp the opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy exercising in the fresh air while we can.

 

There are so many ways to exercise during summer. Go walking with friends and family, go for a run or ride your bike.

 

Swimming is a great form of exercise and while the current growing trend of wild swimming may not be for everyone, getting in the water is a great way to get fit. If wild swimming is not for you, try a local pool or the sea.

 

Water sports are another fun way to keep fit. There are so many enjoyable water activities, including kayaking and paddle boarding, and when the sun is out they become even more fun for everyone!

 

Training too is better in the summer weather as you don’t need to be confined to the gym or home. Get outdoors and feel the benefits of the fresh air.

 

When you think of taking the car for short journeys, think again and perhaps walk. Walking is a great way to stay fit and it’s free and kind to the environment.
