Life is slowly returning to some kind of normality after a lengthy period of Covid restrictions, and it’s good to see. However, many people who have had Covid are still suffering; even a mild Covid infection can cause persistent fatigue, and exercise is a key part of recovery.
If you are recovering from Covid it’s important to know that it’s usual to feel tired after a viral infection. Sleep and rest are important, but as you start to feel better it’s important to start moving again.
Exercise increases the capacity of muscles, the heart and lungs, and helps to combat the negative effects of the infection.
Exercise is also great for helping with stress and anxiety.
While regaining your strength start off slowly and gradually build up to doing more. Remember, it isn’t a competition.
Walking is a great place to start. Begin with short strolls and then gradually build up to longer, faster walks.
There are no prizes for pushing yourself too hard and it can set your recovery back. You will know when the time is right to push a bit harder or increase the intensity of your exercise.
There is absolutely no need to struggle alone. If you want some help with your exercise regime a personal trainer could well be the answer.
